Someone posted this on IRC for this game I play. It's scary if it's at all true. I dont' know how old it is, I haven't been playing CSS that long.

It's just a video where someone started a local server with a bot, and turned on the hitboxes. The hitboxes lead the player model, and you can clearly see the guy shooting the model but not registering any hits. Then he hits the hitbox that leads the model and gets headshots and kills. Then he turns the hitboxes off and shoots in front of the model and gets kills. It's pretty scary if it's true. I found a discussion on some other forum and they're arguing whether or not valve has alread fixed this and how old the video really is.

Interesting indeed...

I do know valve is constantly changing stuff on CS, which is what makes the game continuously interesting...

Recently they just released the half registerring N.3.B. bullets. This mod causes any player with the name nebula to have only half of his shots registerred when shooting people. I have been trying to learn how to deal with this recent mod, but I just dont seem to be winning

I swear, the more I play CS, the worse I get.

Guys, think about it. The hitboxes lead the guy because in order for you to shoot someone who is running, you need to lead them. In my opinion, the hitboxes are right on. In most cases, since people are RUNNING, the hit boxes SHOULD lead the models. I really dont see whats so wrong with the way it is? When the guy is standing still or crouching, the hit boxes are right over the model.

Point AR.
Everyone else 0
AR is right to shoot someone running the guy doesnt stop midstride when you shoot...They keep running so in order to hit him you must shoot a little in front of him.....Exactly where the hitboxes should be to get a hit. I think its just something for someone to bitch about is all.

agreed...

I still havent seen the link, but there has been discussion on a similar topic of this amongst my CSing friends, and its for several reaons... I believe it is incorperated to compensate for lag... its basically an assumption the game makes based on if you are moving or not, and in which direction...

but right now I am just talking out of my arse... I am not sure _exactly_ what this link is about...

I've done some research on this because, compared to 1.6, this game blows as far as registering goes. The way I understand it, there are three different places where your body is at any given time. The server side which is in the middle, your side which is a little farther behind, and the client side which is in front of the server view. This is to compensate for lag on all of the clients. This is why you may see yourself behind a wall/safe cover but you suddenly get shot in the face when you were clearly behind the wall. Not to be an asshole, but valve didn't make it for leading.
