Hey folks,
Sorry I haven't posted in a while - kid, school, job, chores... you know how it is:)
Anyway, I found these good deals for students.
Basically MS is seeding - giving out free software to lock in mindshare. Students are likely to steal it anyway, so might as well get some benefit.
The 1st is Dreamspark
https://downloads.channel8.msdn.com/
Developer oriented - free.
Windows server 2003
SQL Server Dev ed 2005 and 2008
Visual Studio 2005 and 2008
Microsoft Expression - has a good web design tool integrated in. I used it for my web classes to try it out vs Dreamweaver. I like it a lot. Much better than the old Front Page garbage and a good pro-level tool. The Expression Media is iView Media since MS bought them out. I used it for a long time and though I use Lightroom now, I still miss many of iView's features. It is a very good pro-level organizing app.
Plus a few more
All you have to do is go to school in any of about 50 countries. The site's verification is limited to a few colleges, but if you click "alternate method" it uses JourneyEd to verify you. It works, it's painless. Takes about 8hrs to get the confirmation but once complete, you get free access to download all the tools you want. I told my SQL class at the beginning and all of them used it with no problems.
The other program gets you MS Office Ultimate 2007 for $60 for students through a separate program. You just need a valid .edu email, which most colleges provide now.

This expires at the end of the April, so use it fast.
Between my work discounts and my school discounts I haven't used bittorrent for a piece of good software in ages.
