Apparently Ooma's efforts to sell a "free" voice service that costs $400 haven't been going so well (http://www.thegng.org/shownews/93475), despite being promoted by actor Ashton Kutcher, and despite months of free advertising dressed up as reporting from startup blogs. To help keep things afloat, the company today announced (http://www.pr-inside.com/ooma-debuts-new-retail-and-service-r555150.htm) that they're dropping the price of the device from $400 to $250, which still is more expensive than (admittedly different) Phone Gnome (http://www.phonegnome.com/).
