It's taking a while to d/l. :( 1 min 39 sec's has been sitting there for 10 mins now. What gives?

Has anyone noticed any ping time rises lately? The servers me 'n my buddies usually play on.. my 50/60's are now running in the mid 100's to even as high as 255!?! No changes on my end.. did my scans.. box is clean as a whistle.. tested my d/l speeds (I'm on Cox HSI) and everything is within normal parameters.. Heard that some of the CS servers had to be rebooted recently..

Whats tha word on the street?

Peace.

Nebula had the same trouble. He changed his connection speed in his steam settings to 56k and he said it worked. That should fix your ping problem. mine is set to ISDN - 112k.

Well, now when I tried to load the de_inferno, I get an error message that says my version of the de_inferno.bsp is "different" from the server.

I've been able to play the de_port one fine (lots of fun, beautiful scenery, the light sources for the flourescent lamps in the underground section are SOOO realistic!!!) but, when we try to goto de_inferno, I get the error message.. I've tried three other servers already.. Same damned issue. :(

Some guidance please? Thanks!

isn't there an official valve release coming up? You'll have to delete all de_inferno files and re-download the map, that should work.

Yep. I just pulled it down. I was thinking the same thing, but thought it may overwrite. I'll try that. Thanks!

POIFECT! That did it. I deleted the de_inferno.bsp file located @ this path:

C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\(your_account_name_her e)\counter-strike source\cstrike\maps

Worked like a charm! Thanks.

Indeed, Indeed.

All files of the old Inferno have been removed from the server to make room for the new inferno.

Delete all existing parts of Inferno from your CS directories to gain access to the new Valve released Inferno..

back on the issue of lag...

I am always on a cable internet myself... but for SOME reason the offical VALVE fix for having bad lag (yes, even on a cable modem) is to set your internet settings to 56k... anything set above your actual internet connection speed can cause packet loss/and or horendous lag.... (mine was set to -nothing- it was blank when I changed it to 56k)

...trust me, I was getting between 200-300 ping... this one little setting fixed it all

remember, when changing the internet setting, you must quit steam completely, and reload it.
