Thinking about building a computer for this specific purpose OR going with one of the Linksys, Buffalo, etc "out of the box" solutions.
Any of you fine folks running any of those NAS devices? How do you like them?
I'm leaning towards slapping some parts together but I want to know more about what Linksys and company have to offer.

NAS are a great, non-secure way to store data. Make sure you get one with RJ45 and USB for disaster recovery - if your RJ45 ports go bad...how else can you get the data off...
I have several NAS at home and love them all. They're fast, have RAID capabilities, and pretty dependable as long as they're not switched on and off too much. I always store copies of my data across two devices though because I've seen too many companies burned by these things. But that's IT...
I would recommend the Buffalo or Western Digital products. They always get high reviews, and I've never seen any fail in the field for the first three years of usage.
