Chick, it's not cool to make fun of L1ve like that. You'll give him a complex. Do it behind his back like the rest of us.
Santa....... Whatever dude. Maybe i'll come visit you. I want to see the West coast anyways.

Wow....6 week deployments..... I am in Ft Irwin right now for 4 weeks for AT and I am hating life. Its like the desert without showers, women, and lots of sand in the crack lol.

I HATE Ft. Irwin with a passion. Four years at Nellis and we were always out there supporting those lame ass exercises. Have they implemented the hot weather city tactical environments yet? They were talking about it when I left but nothing had been done yet. I see almost no point in making the tank jockeys ride around in a wide open environment when 80% of the fighting we do is city based now. I think I spent aboyut 6 months total out there all told.

Thanks for the offer Thunder but i've got my voucher under control i think. I lucked out and have a good superviser for a change so life is good!
Deployment is tied up in kiteboarding gear for now. Once i get my voucher money i'll start pricing parts on a new gaming rig.
6 week deployment!?! How does that work? You'd inprocess, work a week, then outprocess!

Yeah, they have been building a lot of iraqi village MOUT sites, it gets really repititious though.
Bad guys in turbans yell and try to get us to shoot their civilians. We were running through one of them the other day and the room clearing will definitely be badass.

Do they still do the IED drills? What about the anti-personnel IEDs in buildings? Those are the real killers.

05-26-2008, 09:41 PM
meh, the only thing besides training on defending our FOB from IED's was that I went to a class for a IED jammer the Army is coming out with. Pretty cool stuff, once we disable the insurgents from IEDs, they will have to fight gun for gun, and they will be pwned in the face

My unit has been set to go this November GB. Might see you down there. They are saying that we are replacing a unit at Camp Buehring (Udari). If that happens then we will most likely be inprocessing you once you get in country. Not looking forward to the sand storms that I remember from going through there last time but you can't complain about living it up in Kuwait.
Thunder

Not to burst your bubble GB but the jammers only work if you get the freq right and you're within range. I think the range has gotten much better but it's still within RPG and mortar range and I'd rather not be sitting still trying to fire up the jammer when hadji and buds are trying to ram a pipe or two up my ass. I really hope they start training you against the anti-personal IEDs. Those things are nasty and never look like what they really are.

hey solomn, when I was there in 03-04, we spent our last 5-6 months doing convoy escorts from Navistar, and we were based out of Udari. Even back then, Udari was nice man, we had air-conditioned trailers and nice showers. I got addicted to these rolls called chormasszas? I spelled that really bad, but they are really greasy and taste awesome.
We are not even sure we are dealing a lot with vehicles, so the jammers will go for naught. I like my chances on the ground anyway, I keep telling all my battle buddies that you can kill people, but you cant kill bombs:doubt:
Too bad i didnt become a warrant officer, helicopter pilots got the good life

03-04? I was there in July 03 to Nov 03. But I was way south near the ancient city of Ur and Nasiryah I think. My spelling is bad too.
If you want the sweet life just go Air Force and be done with it. You know we have it easy.

shit would be alot easier if we just used the tactic we used on the American indian and just killed every adult male you come across.......makes these little conflicts alot easier.........Kinda messy,,,,,but effective.......

I spent all of 2003 in Kuwait and the last half of 2004 doing convoys into Iraq. I went to Ur one day, I was racing my friend up the temple steps. Bought a Winged Bull of Nineveh plaque from a hodgie stand there

I was in Udari from Feb - March 2003. Then we went north with the Army, making a two week stop at Talill and finally stopping at Balad to set up the airfield there.
