Time Warner this week unveiled their plan (http://www.businesswire.com/portal/site/google/?ndmViewId=news_view&newsId=20080521005537&newsLang=en) to spin off their 85% stake in Time Warner Cable, creating a separate cable company. An expected move that should have little impact on subscribers, the deal delivers a $9 billion dividend to Time Warner, and was aimed at helping Time Warner shed its $34.6 billion debt load. As its own company, Time Warner Cable Could be freer to pursue lustful acquisitions (like Cablevision), but the dividend they're paying their former master saddles them with "significant debt" according to the Wall Street Journal (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121136552871310273.html?mod=googlenews_wsj). Somebody needs a new name and logo.
