My 12-year-old daughter is into drawing. I'd say she is pretty good at it considering she has no formal training, but of course I'm biased.

She is starting to get into drawing with graphics software and is asking me for a tablet.

While I'm open to ideas for new units that aren't too expensive -- say under $300 -- I'm also interested in used on the cheap of possible. So, if any of you have one laying around, collecting dust, or whatever, let me know.

DD, I saw a play-based tablet (not a wacom) in the stores which is a mouse/etc (best buy). More based on fun creativity rather than business I think. Sammies may not be a wacom since I remember her having some other brand possibly?

I know a artist tho, she does great work on a plain, simple.. bottom of the line wacom tablet she purchased for less than 80$ at the store. (if all else fails). Her daughter got one 3x the price and does horrible, lol.. so, its really the user rather than the tablet.

The difference in them all seems to be size, and buttons...

I sold mine after about 8-10 months of having it, just didnt get enough use to just let it sit there and rot.

Anyways, goodluck.

I don't want to invest too much because she might let it sit around after a few frustrating events with it. But, at the same time, I want her to have something that won't hold her back too much from learning.

I'm kinda hoping that Sammie will have a cool offer soon.

For now, I have her using my work laptop/tablet PC. Can't keep that up though.
