The Senate has decided to approve (http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6571824.html) additional funding to aid in the transition from analog to digital television which is set to take place in February. The new funding will have a two-fold purpose. First, it will allow for new funding to help low-power broadcasters make this transition which should ease concerns that these stations will be unviewable after the switch. And second, the funding is designed to provide additional education and assistance to elderly and rural television viewers who are not aware of what they need to do when the switch takes place. This is just another part of a big push to make sure that no one is left in the dark when the signals are switched.
