I dunno you tell me lol:lol:
I haven't touched it in months as I haven't play TF2 in quite awhile, but no one has said anything about server troubles so I can only assume everything is peachy

dude a LOT of people have said a LOT of things about the server...
you just werent around to reply to any of it...
i think the biggest thing is that when the server or admin or both needs updating, you arent around...
how about letting live... or chick... or someone who plays regularly have access to do that??
I call BS. I check these forums everyday, usually multiple times a day.
The last post about server problems were from 3 months ago at the end of April

I call BS... tuck and i just mentioned the problems to someone like a week and some ago... just because we don't start a new thread doesn't mean it's not screwed up. Cause it was screwed during the pyro update and that was less then 3 months ago. Give it to Chick as I seem to see him pop up online the most often of any GNGer
Telling "someone" that the server is having problems doesn't do any good unless "someone" mentions it to me any number of ways, be it forum post, PM, email. Talking about it on vent about it amongst yourselves doesn't mean it will get back to me.
Unless "someone" brings it up to me it's basically falling on deaf ears. And I honestly don't think Chick wants to manage the server. For one, there's no pretty web GUI to manage it, it's all done with text files and FTP. Second, he probably doesn't have the time to do it.
I'm not about to pawn it off on anyone, but if any GNG'ers feel they can manage the server themselves, without any help, and honestly want to, then by all means I'll create the necessary accounts and hand it over.
Bottom line is, I can't fix what I'm not made aware of.

Giving someone else the ability to do stuff on the server is not the solution. I mean, it would be a good solution if zero was a lazy and inept admin, which he is not. Sure, someone else may play the game more often NOW but what about in the future? Do we just keep shuffling the responsibility around as people come and go? That's silly.
Like zero said, if there is a problem with something, you need to let someone know that can fix it. If 3 people who can't fix the problem are all talking to each other about it, how is that supposed to fix anything?
Zero and I both realize that we are pretty much the point of contact for anything related to the website and server. I think the majority of our membership realize this too, although maybe we don't have enough information posted about who to contact in case of troubles.
That said, I can pretty much be reached anytime of day and most of the night. I carry my BlackBerry at all times. You send me a PM through the forums and I instantly get an email about it. You send me an email to animal (at) thegng.org and I will get it instantly.
Zero, while not as connected, has always responded to my PM's and emails very promptly. I have never had any trouble getting a hold of him to make changes on any of our servers.
What method of contact would you prefer? You guys have private messages through the forums, email, google talk and I can even create a new forum that acts like a support ticket system and dispatches an email automatically when a new post is made. Pick one, use them all I don't care, but let someone who can fix the issue know there is a problem.
As for posting stuff in an existing thread... I look at just about every single thread thats posted. After that, I monitor it to see if it appeals to me and then quit paying attention. Most of the time threads spin into off topic discussions or just people bullshiting back and forth. Posting about a TF2 server issue in a thread where everyone is talking about their favorite cupcake flavor hardly counts as contacting anyone about the problem.
That's all I have for now.

Sever isn't working right now as an FYI... hasn't been updated since the last TF2 update since we get the common "server running different class tables"

i dont deny you guys would fix it if notified...
i know this has been talked about for months...
i dont know exactly where at in the forums, nor do i know by whom... but it has been talked about several times...
and by saying "talked about" i mean myself chick and i dont know who else has talked about updating the servers, updating the admin, giving someone else access to these things, etc...
i always looked for a reply from you zero but never saw one...
now with that being said, we now know what to do...
just pm you directly...
no big deal...
can you fix the server / admin problem pleasE?!
This evening I updated TF2 itself, it was a few patches behind at least for sure. I also updated the admin mod as it seems the version that was loaded was incompatible with the newest orangebox engine, as it would crash immediately upon trying to load it.
So we should be on the latest version of everything right now. Admin mod loads fine, I can execute console commands and the server responds.
I haven't jumped on in game yet as all of my source games are way out of date, so someone please jump on the next couple of days and let me know if anything is out of place, or crashes when you try to do something, etc.
And a forum PM should be enough to get my attention, or an appropriately titled forum post in one of the TF2 forums.
